Unimail is the UNSW Central Electronic Mail System, provided by the UNSW Communications Unit and supported by Dis><Connect. Uni-wide related notices such as messages from the Chancellor, notices of student fees, end of session exam results are sent via this account. It is essential that you check your email regularly. School related notices such as timetable changes, submission deadlines and many other announcements are communicated via this account.

There are some rules governing the use of your Unimail account:

Students should know that it is illegal to send offensive material.
UniMail accounts should not be used for commercial purposes.
The system should not be used for sending and receiving excessively large emails nor should it be used for spamming.
Before posting to email lists or online forums take the time to research the etiquette for the groups. Off-topic and offensive material will get you banned from posting.

Responsible use of Computer Resources

Computer resources are in constant high demand. Students are asked to show consideration of other users.

Do not eat or drink in computer laboratories
Do not use the equipment for personal browsing
Do not play sounds which may disturb other users
Promptly collect printing and dispose of unwanted paper in recycling bins
Do not tamper with other users' printing
Leave work stations clean and tidy
Return all furniture to its correct place
Keep conversation to a minimum

Students should know that it is illegal to:

give other users access to your account or make use of other users' accounts;
use the equipment to download, view or store any offensive or unauthorised material;
make or use illegal copies of software;
attempt to circumvent security and privacy features of the system;
attempt to crash the system.
